Avoid

For the world in which the book's argument is right, avoidance is the only survival strategy, so this section is the other half of Survive. It asks the collective question: what would actually have to happen for the thing not to be built, or to be built without the outcome the book predicts, and where can effort move that?

The book's answer is a single intervention, a verified global halt, and it argues for that intervention by dismissing all the others. The argument pages explain why that dismissal is the weakest part of the chain. This section takes the alternative approach: lay out the interventions that are actually on the table, rank them by how much of the outcome rests on each, and be honest about which ones a person can affect.

The first page is the ranking. The second is what the book underweights, which is partly a list of things it gets wrong and partly a list of things it leaves for someone else to do. That someone is, provisionally, this site.
